A hard problem to solve, but the right team to solve it

Quantum was founded in 2017 by financial trading and software veterans who asked traders a simple question:

How do you ensure that your complex algorithms and trading systems execute as expected in the markets?

It’s not a new problem, but as computing power has increased exponentially along with market complexity, the answer became more challenging. Time and energy were spent to identify trading signals, but execution testing was often done in live markets (now a no-no) or via exchange simulators too simple to provide reliable answers.

How then did they, if at all, understand how their algorithmic strategies might truly perform in a competitive market, and worse, how might those strategies disrupt markets via unexpected, aberrant behaviors?

In addition, how did they justify the costs of maintaining many different bespoke simulators across the firm, most of which were written for internal use and never to show in detail to internal or external auditors?

In return, some of the top firms in financial trading asked a few questions back to us:

(1)

Our trading strategies often execute quite differently than our pre-launch testing models indicate. How can you help?

(2)

We use many fragmented testing solutions that do not provide realism for our execution & regulatory testing. How can you help?

(3)

We do not believe that anyone else can build a platform for execution and compliance testing with the complexity we require. Prove it!

It was clear - very few trading firms were satisfied that their current execution testing was realistic, deterministic, or illustrative of key edge case behaviors. The need was clear, and Quantum was born.

Since that time, Quantum incorporated industry feedback on the features and functions that were needed for the best performance, execution, and compliance testing, and we’ve built all of that and more.

The Quantum Platform has raised the bar for testing realism, determinism, and speed for our clients.

Our team is completely focused on the realistic testing of financial trading systems and complex algorithmic trading models, globally and across all asset classes (e.g. equities, derivatives, fx, crypto, and fixed income).
